Buying an electric vehicle can save you a
considerable amount of money on the running costs compared with petrol or
diesel. Electric vehicle charging costs less per mile to run and there
are other benefits too.
For instance, as an electric vehicle has no
internal combustion engine it doesn’t need spark plugs, timing belts, and oil
changes, and an electric motor doesn’t need routine maintenance.
One very big benefit of an electric vehicle
is that you can plug it in when you get home in the evening, and when you wake
up in the morning you can have a “full tank” ready to go. Of course, there are
not yet enough charging stations nationally, but in Scotland, ChargePlace
Scotland has over 1,000 public charging points and says that the average
distance between any Scottish location and the nearest public charging point is
just 2.78 miles. That compares with 3.77 miles in England (https://www.transport.gov.scot/news/over-1000-electric-vehicle-charge-points-in-scotland/).
